Podcast topic requests and personal old-timey Mac stories welcome. Beware of phishers and impostors–I don’t do social media and I will never ask you for money.
What is this thing?
A podcast in which I read you ancient articles about Macintosh-related hardware, software, and people. It’s more like an audio book than a podcast, hence the title, which a lot of people get wrong. It is kind of a mouthful.
But… why?
For the fun of it, for people who remember what computing was like in the olden days, and for younger folks who are curious what things were like back then. And hey, sometimes it’s nice to have things read to you while you do the dishes.
The Mac OS is rotting. I want people to remember that the Macintosh used to be simple and beautiful, and that once upon a time, we dreamed that computers with virtually zero horsepower were going to empower people to make the world a better place.
Why do you only publish once a month?
Recording and editing take time, and I have a day job. It also takes time to gather historically-relevant audio clips, as does agonizing over providing just enough surrounding narrative, and selecting which articles are of enough substance and interest to begin with.
Linus Tech Tips publishes a video every day. Just sayin’.
“Why haven’t I heard of this podcast before?”
Listening to ancient computer magazine articles just can’t compete with YouTube and TikTok. Nobody cares, and I’m OK with that. I loathe attention and self-promotion.
